Purple Dual Shade Lotus Butta Maheshwari Silk Cotton Saree

This is a purple Maheshwari silk cotton saree with a peacock blue shift woven through it and gold zari lotus buttas set in lines. Purple is the traditional engagement colour across much of South India, and this one is pitched at the bride's side for an evening engagement — rich enough for the photographs, light enough to wear from the ceremony through the dinner.

What you get

  • Maheshwari silk cotton saree, 6.3 metres in length including the blouse piece
  • Width: 45–47 inches
  • Purple and peacock blue dual shade with gold zari lotus buttas in lines
  • Unstitched blouse piece
  • Free size — drapes to suit all body types
  • Quality-checked before dispatch

Why purple for an engagement

Engagements sit awkwardly between formal and festive — heavy silk is too much, everyday cotton is too little. Purple has traditionally solved that: it reads as celebratory without claiming the ceremonial weight of red or the bridal associations of gold. The peacock blue shift adds depth under evening light, and the lotus buttas in line arrangement give a structured look that photographs cleanly in the ring-exchange shots where everyone is close together.

How to style it

A plain purple, lavender or deep teal blouse all work. Purple takes both gold and silver, so you have room — gold temple jewellery for a traditional look, or diamond and white gold for a more contemporary evening. Keep the neckpiece simple; the butta lines already carry vertical interest down the drape.

Care

Dry clean for the first few washes. No machine wash. Air in shade before folding, keep in the complimentary storage bag, away from perfume spray and damp storage. Refold every three to six months in long storage.

Is this pure silk?

No. Maheshwari is a silk-cotton blend and we describe it that way — Maheshwari silk cotton, not pure silk. That blend is the reason it drapes light and breathes through a long evening.

What is a dual shade saree?

It means two colours are woven into the cloth in different directions, so the saree appears to change between them as the light and angle change. On this piece, purple shifts toward peacock blue. It is a property of the weave, not a print or a finish.

What are the lotus buttas?

Lotus-shaped motifs woven in gold zari, placed in lines across the body rather than scattered across it.

Is purple suitable for an engagement ceremony?

Yes. Purple is a long-standing engagement colour in South Indian families, and it avoids the bridal-red overlap that makes colour selection difficult for the bride's sister, cousins and close relatives.

Does it come with a blouse piece?

Yes, unstitched, included with the saree.

Measurements?

6.3 metres including blouse piece, 45–47 inches wide, free size.

Is it comfortable to wear for hours?

Yes. Maheshwari silk cotton is light and soft-falling, and needs far less pinning than a heavy silk. That is the practical case for it at a long evening function.

Will the shade look like the photos?

Expect some variation. Purple renders differently across phone and laptop screens, and dual shade fabrics compound that. Request a video on WhatsApp before ordering if you want certainty.

I want a purple Maheshwari for a daytime function instead — which one?

Our Purple Dual Shade Maheshwari without the lotus work is styled for daytime Seemantham and family functions. This lotus butta version is the evening piece.

Is Cash on Delivery available?

Yes, for eligible PIN codes. Confirm at checkout with your pincode.

How long will it take to arrive?

Dispatch in 1–3 working days for ready stock. Then 4–5 working days within Tamil Nadu, 7–15 for the rest of India, 7–21 international.
