This is a purple dual shade Maheshwari silk cotton saree with gold zari butidar (butta) motifs woven across the body. Purple carries gold zari without going loud, which makes this a saree for festive days and family functions where you want colour and comfort in the same drape.

What you get

  • Fabric: Maheshwari silk cotton — a silk-and-cotton blend weave, not pure silk
  • Colour: purple with a peacock dual shade that shifts as the fabric catches light
  • Work: gold zari butidar motifs — small repeating buttas across the body
  • Length: 6.3 metres, including the blouse piece
  • Width: 45–47 inches
  • Fit: free size, drapes to suit every body type

Is Maheshwari silk cotton pure silk?

No. Maheshwari silk cotton is a blended weave of silk and cotton, and we label it that way on purpose. The blend is what gives this saree its two best qualities: the soft sheen and fall of silk, with the breathability and easy weight of cotton. If you are looking for a pure silk saree, our Tissue Silk and Pure Tussar Silk collections are the right place to start.

When to wear it

Purple is a Navratri shade and a celebration shade rather than a temple-morning one. It suits a Navratri evening, a Seemantham or baby shower, an anniversary or birthday lunch, a family get-together, and office festive wear. Because Maheshwari silk cotton stays light, you can wear it through a long function or a full working day without the weight of a heavy silk.

How to style it

Pearls sit beautifully against purple and give this saree a softer, more contemporary finish than temple gold. Antique gold is the traditional alternative and picks up the zari buttas directly. For the blouse, a deep purple or lavender in the same family keeps it tonal, ivory lightens it for a daytime function, and gold gives contrast for an evening. The peacock shade in the weave also opens up a teal blouse if you want the second colour to lead. Keep the rest minimal — the saree carries its own zari detail.

Will this colour suit me?

Purple is one of the more widely wearable shades in our range. Deep purple and plum look beautiful on dusky warm tones, mauve and plum sit well on medium neutral tones, and lavender works on fair cool-toned skin. The dual shade weave means you get more than one note in a single drape.

Care

Dry clean only for the first few washes. Do not machine wash. Air the saree in shade after wearing, fold it before storing, and apply perfume before draping rather than onto the fabric.

Ordering, delivery and exchange

Every saree is quality-checked before dispatch. Ready-to-ship orders are dispatched within 1–3 working days. Cash on Delivery is available for select PIN codes. Exchanges are accepted within 4 days of delivery on unused, unwashed sarees with original tags, supported by a continuous unboxing video.

Note: slight colour variation is expected between the photographs and the saree, due to camera settings and lighting.

Frequently asked questions

Is this saree pure silk?

No. This is a Maheshwari silk cotton saree — a blend of silk and cotton, not pure silk. We label it as a blend on purpose so you know exactly what you are buying.

What does "purple dual shade" mean?

It is a dual shade weave, so the saree reads purple from one angle and shows a peacock shift from another as the light moves across it. The two shades come from the weave itself, not from a print.

How is this different from your Purple Lotus Butta Maheshwari saree?

This one carries small repeating gold zari buttas and sits at a lighter, everyday-festive level. The lotus butta piece carries a larger ceremonial motif and is priced for a function or for gifting. Same fabric, different occasion.

Is a blouse piece included?

Yes. The blouse piece is included within the 6.3 metre length.

What are the measurements?

6.3 metres in length including the blouse piece, and 45–47 inches in width. The saree is free size.

Can I wear this for Navratri?

Yes. Purple is a traditional Navratri shade, and Maheshwari silk cotton is light enough to wear comfortably across a long evening of celebration.

Is this suitable for a Seemantham or baby shower?

Yes. Purple with gold zari reads celebratory without being as formal as a heavy silk, which suits a daytime Seemantham, a baby shower or a family lunch.

Is it comfortable enough for office festive wear?

Yes. Maheshwari silk cotton is soft, light and breathable enough for a full working day, and the zari buttas keep it festive without being heavy.

What jewellery should I pair with it?

Pearls give a softer, contemporary finish against purple. Antique gold is the traditional direction and picks up the zari buttas. Choose one rather than mixing, and keep it to a single statement piece.

What blouse colour goes with purple?

A deep purple or lavender keeps it tonal. Ivory lightens it for daytime, gold adds contrast for an evening, and teal picks up the peacock shade in the weave. Pick the shade from the saree itself rather than introducing a new colour.

Will purple suit my skin tone?

Purple works across a wide range. Deep purple and plum suit dusky warm tones, mauve and plum suit medium neutral tones, and lavender suits fair cool tones.

How do I wash this saree?

Dry clean only for the first few washes. Do not machine wash. Air it in shade after wearing and fold it before storing.

When will my order be dispatched, and is COD available?

This is a ready-to-ship saree, dispatched within 1–3 working days of order confirmation. Cash on Delivery is available for select PIN codes, and tracking details are shared once the saree ships.
