Why this suits a mehendi or haldi

Mehendi and haldi are outdoor or semi-outdoor daytime functions, usually with floor seating, usually with turmeric or henna somewhere near your clothes. A heavy silk is impractical on all three counts. This saree is light enough for a warm afternoon, forgiving enough to sit cross-legged in, and bright enough to hold its own against the marigolds and the yellow decor that these functions are built around. How to style it

What does dual shade mean?

Red is woven in one direction and yellow in the other, so the saree shifts between the two as the light and angle change. It is a weaving effect, not a print.

What are line buttas?

Small gold zari motifs woven in lines down the saree body rather than scattered.

Is red appropriate for a mehendi if I am not the bride?
